Fight For Our Reef

About

Home to swirling fish, colourful corals and ancient sea turtles, our magnificent Great Barrier Reef is vital to the health of Australia’s oceans.

The Reef is part of our world heritage and its beauty lifts our spirits. Spanning 2,300 kms along the Queensland coast, it can even be seen from space.

But our Great Barrier Reef is in grave danger. Corporations like mining giant Adani are threatening the future of our Reef. The mining and burning of coal is heating our planet and cooking our oceans, causing devastating coral bleaching. The footprint of this unprecedented back-to-back bleaching stretches along two-thirds of the length of the Reef – from Torres Strait in the north down to Townsville – covering 1,500 km.

There’s still time to save the Reef. We know what we need to do.

Together we can stop the Adani Carmichael coal mine and other mega mines, and insist that the federal government urgently switches to clean, renewable energy. Hundreds of thousands of people are already taking action to #StopAdani and new coal mines. Our leaders have a legal and moral responsibility to protect our Reef and together we will hold them to it.
