Marine Parks - Threats

A new investigative report confirms that the arrival of supertrawlers and overseas fleets would be bad for marine life, bad for local fishing communities and bad for recreational fishers.

It is gravely concerning that under questioning in Parliament, plans to allow overseas fishing fleets into Australia’s waters have not been ruled out. Further, it reveals the current so-called ban on supertrawlers excludes just six boats from Australian waters, leaving the door open to more than 70 currently in operation globally.

Sign the petition calling for a permanent ban on all supertrawlers in Australia’s vulnerable fisheries, and for an urgent Senate inquiry into moves to allow overseas fishing fleets to fish in Australian waters.
